The Lesson

I personally enjoyed the short story "The Lesson" because a lot of urban children who grow up in poor areas are not exposed to anything outside of what they think are normal. Life does not always have to be what it seems, there's a whole different life outside of Harlem. Once you are exposed to what is out there, you have two choices, to either persist and improve yourself to receive that life or do nothing and stay in the slum that you were in. This story showcases the if you want something, work your way to it mentality. Great story with a strong vision.
